As long as you have a clear criminal history and no suspicious links, you should be okay. They usually do this with males from certain countries, people with certain last names, or people who will work with potentially hazardous materials. This is just an extra precaution from post 9/11. If you do get your visa, be prepared for a fun interview at the port of entry. They’ll pretty much ask you a whole bunch of questions to confirm that you’re not linked to any terrorist activities.
